Jonas Schildermans, Belgium

Jonas Schildermans is a Belgian dance writer, curator and producer. His education in art history at the Catholic University of Leuven furnished his broad visual vocabulary, which he puts to use today as a performing arts professional. After completing the exchange program in cultural studies at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam, he remained in the city to make his first attempt in producing dance at the educational department of Scapino Ballet Rotterdam. In 2016, he returned to Belgium and settled in Antwerp to work with dancer, choreographer and director Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. He is currently engaged in editing and coordinating a retrospective publication on Cherkaoui’s comprehensive oeuvre and works at his company Eastman in the fields of communication, press, documentation and education. Jonas closely observes the contemporary dance field in Europe and in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
