Golem

Golem is the staged dialogue between Mike Sprogis, a 70-year-old sculptor and Julien Carlier, a contemporary dancer who started out as a breakdancer. One sees dance as an ephemeral moving sculpture, the other sees a dance that inspires them in the movements of the sculptor and his material. When manipulated on stage, the clay creates a confusion between the inert and the living, the earth becoming man and the man, at times, appearing like lifeless material. The piece speaks about the passing of time and its influence on the body and the spirit. Organic, sensitive and beautiful.
